Gemini AMPM Delivers Landmark Fire, Gas Suppression & Security Project in the City of London
Scope of Works
Gemini’s turnkey package spanned the full lifecycle, from early technical design and coordination through to installation, commissioning, and final client handover. Our integrated solution included:
- Fire Alarm System – Full L1 coverage across all commercial floors, risers, cores, and three basement levels, integrating with mechanical systems, plant shutdown, and cause/effect programming to BS 5839 standards.
- Voice Alarm / PAVA – A new Baldwin Boxall 100V PAVA system designed to provide evacuation coverage across all floors, with discreet speaker installation in sensitive heritage zones.
- Aspirating Detection – ASD installed in key ceiling voids and plant areas to deliver early warning detection where conventional devices were unsuitable.
- Gas Suppression Systems – Multiple gas suppression systems protecting mission-critical areas including comms rooms, switchrooms, and AV suites, designed and installed to BS EN 15004 and integrated with fire detection and shutdown protocols.
- Security Systems – Comprehensive CCTV, access control, video intercom and door monitoring systems delivering secure access across all tenant and landlord areas, including rooftop plant and lift lobbies.
- Temporary Systems – Phased temporary fire detection and wireless Cygnus alarms to maintain site-wide coverage throughout construction, ensuring full compliance with CDM and life safety requirements.
Complexity & Coordination
This live construction environment required detailed planning, interfacing with multiple trades, and careful phasing to avoid disruption to programme-critical works. Gemini’s team maintained consistent presence on site for over 12 months, with full design compliance checks, real-time adjustments, and robust QA procedures.
Our scope extended across every floor, from the secure server rooms deep in the basement to the high-spec executive offices and plant areas on the roof, delivering a fully integrated life safety and security strategy tailored to this Grade A commercial redevelopment.
