Gemini AMPM has completed a £4.4 million fire, gas suppression and security project at Peterborough Court, 133 Fleet Street, the former European headquarters of Goldman Sachs in the City of London. The landmark building has undergone a full commercial refurbishment, with Gemini serving as principal fire and security contractor under Tier 1 partner Mace.
Scope of works
The turnkey package ran from design through installation, commissioning and handover, including:
- Fire alarm system: full Category L1 coverage across the commercial floors, risers, cores and three basement levels
- Voice alarm / PAVA: evacuation coverage with discreet speaker placement in heritage zones
- Aspirating detection: ceiling voids and plant areas
- Gas suppression: protecting mission-critical areas including comms rooms and switchrooms
- Security systems: CCTV, access control, video intercom and door monitoring
- Temporary systems: phased fire detection and wireless alarms maintaining compliance throughout construction
Complexity and coordination
The project demanded more than 12 months of consistent on-site presence across every floor, from basement server rooms to rooftop executive offices, with detailed planning and interfacing among multiple trades on a live Tier 1 programme.
A benchmark for future growth
Chairman Jamie Dawson: “This project is Gemini’s statement of intent. We’ve shown that we belong at the top table, capable of delivering complex, integrated life safety systems across some of London’s most important buildings.”
